Tony Cottee


Tony Cottee arrived in the football scene in 1984 and made an instant impact in British football. He was a prolific marksman for the Hammers during his playing days at Upton Park, he was voted PFA player of the year in 1986 for his fantastic performances. His outstanding performances earned him a move for an English transfer record fee of £2.2 million in 1988 to Everton. He went on to spend six seasons with Everton, becoming an instant favourite with the fans. He moved back to West Ham in 1994 for a second spell which lasted two seasons. Cottee spent a year playing football in Malaysia in 1996 before moving back to England, this time playing for Leicester City. He spent three seasons at Leicester before ending his career with Norwich and then Barnet.

Frank McAvennie

McAvennie became a hero in English football during the 1985-86 season, his first season playing for West ham, saw him score an incredible 26 goals for the club, making him second top scorer in the English league. After two years playing for West Ham, the Scottish International moved on to Celtic FC in 1987. After four successful seasons playing for the club, he went back to West Ham, playing in the top flight of English football during the 1991-92 season. The following year saw him move to Aston Villa, spending three seasons at the club prior a move back to Celtic. McAvennie spent his remaining football playing days with Swindon Town.
