West Ham’s 1965-66 season campaign ended in them finishing 12th position in the first division, however their season was most notable for their form in the League Cup, they embarked on a fine run which resulted in them reaching the final, however they lost the encounter against West Brom. West Ham were outstanding in the league cup again the following season, this time reaching the semi finals and once again West Brom proved to be too much to handle as the Hammers lost out on the penalty shoot out to them.
By the time of the 1967-68 season, West Ham had one of the best teams in England, their side featured World Cup heroes, Geoff Hurst, Martin Peters and Bobby Moore. They finished the 1967-68 season off in 12th position. The 1968-69 campaign saw the Hammers finish off the season strongly in 8th place. The 1968-69 and 1969-70 seasons saw the Hammers stumble out early in both domestic cup competitions, the FA Cup and the League Cup.
